Uber have launched a service that will allow passengers to get real time information about licensed drivers.
Uber UK said: “Real Time ID Check will verify that driver accounts aren’t being used by anyone other than the licensed individuals who have undergone an Enhanced DBS check.”
The new system will rely on drivers taking regular and real-time photos of themselves for verification. This information will be matched against the account holder’s profile picture, which in turn has been checked against the driver’s licence.
Uber said if a driver fails the ID Check, their account will immediately be temporarily suspended so further checks can be carried out.
