Uber has been granted a new operating licence in London "with conditions" by Transport for London (TfL).

This comes after a period of repeated safety failures and negative decisions, but Uber has made positive changes to its operations. The new licence will run until the second half of 2024.

The new 30-month private hire operator’s license extends Uber’s operations in London until March 2027, reinforcing its position in the UK market. 

The conditions for Uber’s new operating license in London include:

1. Enhanced Safety Measures: Uber must continue to improve its safety protocols, including rigorous background checks for drivers and real-time insurance verification.
2. Driver Welfare: Ensuring fair treatment and working conditions for drivers, including access to benefits and support.
3. Data Sharing: Regularly sharing data with Transport for London (TfL) to ensure compliance with regulations.
4. Passenger Safety: Implementing features to enhance passenger safety, such as in-app emergency buttons and trip tracking.
5. Regular Audits: Undergoing regular audits by TfL to ensure ongoing compliance with all conditions.

These measures aim to address past safety concerns and ensure a safer, more reliable service for passengers and drivers alike.
