Tewkesbury Borough Council has prosecuted an individual for offences relating to the Fraud Act 2006.

The Tewkesbury Borough resident, Sarah Dawes from Bishops Cleeve was alleged to have been breeding and selling dogs from her home address. The dogs were advertised on Pets4Homes website, however Dawes used the name and address of a friend without her knowledge in order to advertise some of the puppies. Dawes had found to have been banned from another two accounts on Pet4Homes website.

Two witnesses purchased dogs in 2020 after finding the adverts on Pets4Homes. These dogs were also advertised as family pets, but in fact the dog was not owned by Dawes at all but by another. Dawes was charged with four counts of fraud by false representation.

Dawes pleaded not guilty to the four offences. A trial commenced Tuesday the 3 rd of January 2023 and yesterday the 4 th of January 2023 at Cirencester Court House the jury found her Guilty of three of those offences. Dawes received a fine totalling £900 and costs of £300 were awarded to Tewkesbury Borough Council.
