It has been reported that all supermarkets will face inspections in the next two weeks to make sure they are Covid-secure.  Ministers have reportedly told councils to check supermarkets have effective safety measures in place.

Several national newspapers reported that “supermarkets and other major stores are facing fresh checks to ensure they are Covid-secure amid fears that too many people are bending or ignoring lockdown rules.

“Ministers are targeting retailers because shops are seen as some of the few remaining places where comparatively large numbers of people can be under the same roof simultaneously.”

There has been no official announcement from the Government in the plans at the date of writing.
