This guidance is intended to support Local Authorities in administering the Restart Grant to support businesses in their local economies as coronavirus restrictions are eased across the country. This support was announced as part of the Budget on 3 March 2021.
The guidance applies to England only from 1 April 2021 and is not retrospective.
Support will take the form of a one-off grant funding scheme in Financial Year 2021-2022. The Restart Grant (RG) and will be administered by local authorities in England, who will receive a proportion of a £425 million top-up to the Additional Restrictions Grant, details of which are included in the updated ARG guidance.
