Wales Online reported that Superbowl UK in Friars Walk, Newport was given the improvement notice after a visit from enforcement officers at Newport City Council. It comes just a month after the bowling alley reopened its doors on May 21 following the easing of restrictions in Wales.
During the June 18 inspection, the council found that Track, Trace and Protect measures inside the venue were "insufficiently monitored/managed to ensure accuracy" and that customers were seen "standing whilst consuming drinks inside the premises".
It also found that tables at the venue were "not suitably distanced to allow for two-metre distancing" and that there were "insufficient staff to monitor and control adherence to reasonable measures" and "customers moving around inside the premises and failing to wear suitable face coverings".
Superbowl UK has been asked to make a number of improvements including managing Track, Trace and Protect correctly, ensuring customers are sitting and that tables are spaced adequately to ensure social distancing, having sufficient staff numbers and ensuring correct practices for cleaning and management of pool table equipment.
It has also been asked to enforce social distancing between bowling alleys, ensure customers are wearing face coverings while walking around the premises, set the music at gaming machines to background level and ensure social distancing at gaming machines.
