There will be no national exemption order for the forthcoming rugby world cup in Japan.
The Home Office has confirmed to the Institute that the Government “There are no plans to relax the licensing hours for the Rugby World Cup 2019.”
There is provision in the Licensing Act for the Secretary of State to make an Order so to allow premises to open for specified, generally extended, hours on these special occasions. This avoids the need for large numbers of applications to vary premises licences and club premises certificates.
