Further to our recent report "Midlands Council considering Early Morning Restriction Order Consultation", Poppleston Allen reported that Walsall Council’s Licensing and Safety Committee voted unanimously not to seek further statistics and evidence.
According to the report, the committee meeting took place yesterday evening (22 February 2023) and the members voted unanimously not to request a further report which could set out crime statistics for the town centre.
Councillors commented that they felt enforecement action against individual operators who may not be promoting the licensing objectives would be more appropriate than a blanket ban on alcohol sales past a certain time.
