The Levelling-up and Regeneration Bill has reached the Committee stage, where detailed examination of the Bill takes place.
In its latest update on the Bill, the LGA said:
"The LGA supports the Government’s plans to introduce a permanent pavement licensing regime. It is welcome that officials at the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities (DLUHC) have engaged with councils to make improvements to the temporary regime and that this Bill increases pavement licence fees, provides a longer consultation and determination period, and improved enforcement powers for councils."
It went on to say however that it will be:
"seeking an amendment to the Bill to create a specific offence for pavement licence breaches to enable councils to take effective enforcement action."
