The Institute of Licensing has responded to the DfT consultation on the draft Section 177 Statutory Guidance for hackney carriage and private hire licensing.
The response highlights ongoing concerns in relation to information sharing under common law police disclosure arrangements as well as emphasising the need to ensure that all information is taken into account when considering suitability of applicants, and referring the DfT to the full content of the IoL's 'Guidance on determining the suitability of applicants and licensees in the hackney and private hire trades’.
