Key changes in the Investigatory Powers (Amendment) Act 2024 relate to the definition of lawful authority, the meaning of communications data subscriber details and changes to the powers to obtain communications data for civil investigations.
The private consultation process for the draft Code of Practice, which sits alongside the amended IPA, has begun. NAFN, in addition to other key stakeholders from the CD community came together to review the draft code, provide comments and suggestions. Public consultation is unfortunately postponed due to the announcement of the General Election.
