MPs have written to the Leader of the House of Commons asking for “urgent action on taxi and private hire legislation.”
Daniel Zeichner MP (Labour MP for Cambridge), along with 11 other MPs, wrote to Leader of the House of Commons Andrea Leadsom MP asking her to make time parliamentary time to allow for the government to bring forward the legislation required to bring about the necessary taxi and private hire law reform.
The law reform referred to by Mr Zeichner related to the recently published recommendations from the Taxi and Private Hire Task & Finish Group.
Mr Zeichner is responsible for introducing the Licensing of Taxis and Private Hire Vehicles (Safeguarding and Road Safety) Bill, a Private Members Bill. In his letter he requested that, as an alternative to parliamentary time for the task and finish group recommendations, that Ms Leadsom make parliamentary time for his Bill to make progress “as an interim measure”.
