The Mail reported that over-55s are the fastest growing group of online gamblers according to new figures released.
The figures relate to gambling participation and problem gambling data published by the Gambling Commission recently that showed in the year to December 2015, 13.9% of 55-64 year olds participated in at least one form of online gambling in the past four weeks. The year to Dec 2018, that number increased to almost 23%.
Online gambling statistics for the same age group but, excluding those only playing National Lottery draw product, rose from 7.9% in 2015 to 16.5% the year to Dec 2018.
