The Government has issued guidance on the powers given to local authorities to impose local lockdowns.
The guidance, that applies to England only, covers:
• Local authority powers
• Requirements for local authority directions
• Members of the public
• Enforcement of requirements
The guidance supports the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (No.3) Regulations 2020 (‘the Regulations’) that came into force on 18 July 2020. It provides guidance for local authorities in England on what the new regulations allow them to do and how they should exercise those powers, how those powers should be enforced, and guidance for those impacted by local authority directions.
