The BBC has reported that a A tougher three-tiered system of local restrictions will come into force in England when the lockdown ends on 2 December. Boris Johnson is expected to set out his plan to MPs today - including details of how families can see different households at Christmas.
It is expected that more areas are set to be placed into the higher tiers to keep the virus under control, and some tiers will be strengthened to safeguard lockdown progress.
Some local measures will be the same as those in the previous three-tier system, which was in place in England until the current lockdown began. There will be some changes, and it is expected that the 10pm curfew will have been revised to allow an hour of ‘drinking up time’.
It has been widely reported that talks between UK governments are ongoing in efforts to agree a common approach to Christmas, with temporary relaxations to allow families to more easily get together between 22 and 28 December
