COVID-19 Licensing Issues: Call for evidence - Impact of Covid-19 on cultural sector Published Date: 29/04/2020

The DCMS Select Committee has issued a call for evidence on impact of COVID-19 on the cultural sector.

The Select Committee has launched an inquiry into the impact of COVID-19 on all of DCMS’ sectors, and into how Government has responded.

The cultural sectors has been particularly affected by the currently lockdown and movement restricted.  Many of these include events that carried some form of licensing requirement such as music and sporting events.

The Committee’s call for evidence is particularly interested in:

  • What has been the immediate impact of COVID-19 on the sector?
  • How effectively has the support provided by DCMS, other Government departments and arms-length bodies addressed the sector’s needs?
  • What will the likely long-term impacts of COVID-19 be on the sector, and what support is needed to deal with those?
  • What lessons can be learnt from how DCMS, arms-length bodies and the sector have dealt with COVID-19?
  • How might the sector evolve after COVID-19, and how can DCMS support such innovation to deal with future challenges?

The call for evidence is currently open-ended, in light of the pressures of the crisis, and notice of its closure will be given in advance on the website.
