WORKPLACE COMPLIANCE OFFICER
We are looking to recruit a highly motivated, enthusiastic and resilient individual to work as a member of our environmental health and licensing team dealing with a range of business licences/ registrations including food and alcohol premises, gambling, animal welfare and scrap metal, and taxi licensing.
The work will involve building good relationships with licence-holders, applicants, councillors, colleagues and external partners, including the police, DVLA, trading standards and fire service to drive up standards. Workloads will often be heavy so good time management skills are important, you will also exercise good judgement and provide advice to a range of service users. To do this you will need good communication skills, be well-organised and committed to high standards of customer care. You should be a team player, willing to share what you know with colleagues and work collaboratively to deliver good outcomes. You will also prepare and present reports to Licensing Committee hearings.
If you are an experienced enforcement officer, with a proactive, innovative approach that encourages compliance and behavioural change, then we would like to hear from you. Ideally you will understand local authority licensing responsibilities, and have a knowledge of the night-time economy and taxi law. If not you will have transferable skills that we can develop to equip you for this challenging role.

The posts will be based in the Council’s Parker Lane Offices within Burnley Town Centre, with some element of home-working flexibility. We offer 25 days holiday per year, rising to 29 after 5 years of service, pro rata, and membership of the LGPS.
The Council’s licensing/environmental health service is delivered by a strategic partner (Liberata UK Ltd) and the successful post-holder will be seconded to the strategic partner.
This is a “Politically Restricted” post under the provisions of Section 3 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
