Job Title – Team Leader (Licensing Enforcement)

Employer – Trafford Council

Location – Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford, Manchester, M32 0TH with Hybrid working (e.g. at home, on site etc.)

Salary range – Band 9, £41,418 - £44,428

Working Pattern – Full Time

Working hours – 36 hours 15 mins per week Monday – Friday (flexible working available) Unsocial hours/weekend work will be required on a rota system – working 14.5 hours in each four-week period outside of core hours (after 7pm on Mondays to Fridays, or anytime on a Saturday, Sunday, or Bank Holiday). These hours count towards contracted hours of 36.25 per week.

Contract type – Permanent

About the Role

Trafford’s Licensing Enforcement Team have a new vacancy for a Team Leader to join the Department and lead a team of Licensing Enforcement Officers.

The primary role of the Licensing Enforcement Team is to carry out a range of regulatory and enforcement functions in the areas of licensing and registration, including taxi and private hire vehicles, alcohol and entertainment, gambling, street trading, charitable collections and scrap metal dealers.

The Licensing Enforcement Team are crucial to the Council meeting its statutory requirements in the above areas and the team provide specialist knowledge and advice on these topics. The work undertaken by the team directly contributes to the Council’s corporate priority of reducing health inequalities.

This role offers the flexibility of hot desking/home working together with field-based work.

About you

You will have:

  • A degree level or equivalent professional qualification and experience in a relevant discipline         
  • Professional Licensing Practitioners Qualification or a willingness to undertake this qualification         
  • The ability to prioritise work and manage a busy workload and deliver to tight deadlines with a passion and pride in your work         
  • Ability to remain focused and work well managing conflicting demands         
  • Excellent written and communication skills         
  • Substantial specialist knowledge and experience relevant to specific areas work (e.g. current issues, risks and legislation and guidance relating to licensing and registration, including taxi and private hire vehicles, alcohol and entertainment, gambling, street trading, charitable collections and scrap metal dealers)

You will have flexibility in terms of hybrid working at home and in the office.

You will be required to drive in this role and have a serviceable car available for use. You will need to be able to travel to and work at different sites across the borough of Trafford.
