Hours: 37.5 per week (banking 30 minutes a week to be used towards the shutdown at Christmas and New Year)
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Licensing Officer to join our Licensing team at Harlow Council. The successful candidate will have a varied range of duties, including the processing of licensing applications, preparing reports for the Licensing Committee and responding to complaints. The main work areas include alcohol, entertainment and gambling licensing, street trading, charitable street and house to house collections and scrap metal and hackney carriage/private hire licensing. This post will be a hybrid working arrangement between working from home and at the Civic Centre, as well as conducting site inspections and enforcement on the district.
The successful candidate will be familiar and have experience of working in the licensing sector and have a sound knowledge of the relevant legislation and guidance. They shall be able to apply their knowledge and expertise to the task at hand.
As a member of our small but busy team, you will be self-motivated with the ability to manage your own caseload within tight timescales. Good time management and organisational skills are therefore essential combined with attention to detail. Excellent communication skills at all levels are essential together with the ability to contribute effectively within the team, and with other teams across the Council.
