Salary £29,174 - £35,336 dependent upon experience (pay award pending)
Permanent, 37 hours per week.
We are looking to recruit a committed and enthusiastic individual to join the Licensing Enforcement Team. The team is part of the Licensing Service located at Riverside House, Rotherham.
The Licensing Enforcement Team carry out a range of licensing enforcement activities including the inspection of premises and vehicles, investigation of complaints, preparation of reports for the Licensing Authority or Magistrates Court and responding to enquiries and requests for advice.
A key area of focus for the successful applicant will be to provide guidance, support, and supervision to enforcement officers within the service on matters related to Local Authority licensing. Alongside protecting the public by taking responsibility for enforcing licence conditions and taking action to prevent unlicensed activity.
We are looking for someone with knowledge of licensing and enforcement practices and the enthusiasm to undertake training to develop knowledge and progress further within the role. You will be expected to establish and maintain effective two-way communication with colleagues, managers, and service users both verbally and in writing and meet targets and performance standards.
As a member of a team, you will contribute to the delivery of the licensing enforcement programme and respond to complaints and other requests for service sometimes outside of normal working hours. This will require the post holder to undertake work at unsocial times when required, including evenings and weekends.
You must be able to work effectively as part of a team, be capable of preparing all correspondence, records, technical reports, and statements of evidence. You must also be able to prioritise and manage your personal workload and the workload of the licensing enforcement officers.

The post holder will require a full UK Driving Licence, as the use of a council vehicle is a requirement of the role.
This post involves travel around the Borough on a daily basis for which an appropriate allowance is payable. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to work away from the office, inspecting and visiting licensed premises, vehicles and businesses (which will include late nights and weekends as required).
This post will have access to the Public Services Network, if successful you will be required to apply for a disclosure of criminal records check at the Basic level (unspent criminal convictions).
This post operates under a Career Grade/Grading Assessment Scheme, with starting salary and progression through the grades being linked to experience, qualifications and level of work being undertaken.
