Licensing in Cheshire West and Chester is an exciting and varied area of work. The post involves ensuring compliance with conditions and legislation associated with all types of licences and registrations granted by the Council. These include the licensing of private hire vehicles, hackney carriages, private hire operators and drivers, premises and individuals under the Licensing Act 2003, premises under the Gambling Act 2005, sexual entertainment venues, street trading, scrap metal, boats and charitable collections.
Principal duties include, investigating and responding to complaints, carrying out inspections and compliance visits, conducting criminal investigations, conducting and recording interviews, attendance at licensing committees and court, monitoring and responding to correspondence and accurately updating computerised records.
The team often supports and works within our vibrant and varied nighttime economy and there will be a requirement to work out of hours (some hours attract enhanced payments). The contractual work location for this role is listed above however you may be required to work from a range of work locations or sites within the Borough and may also be required to work from home, depending on the needs of the service.
