About the role
These are exciting times at Crawley Borough Council and we would love for you to be part of the next stage of our journey!
We have recently completed the first phase of our Community Services Division restructure and we are currently looking to appoint a talented, passionate and focused professional to lead and manage the newly established Public Protection & Enforcement team through the next phase. You will play a key role in the review, planning and delivery of improved regulatory services for Crawley Borough Council.
Crawley Borough Council is a dynamic organisation with an ambitious transformation programme of change, including moving into a new modern Town Hall at the beginning of 2022. The new Town Hall will allow us to embrace a more agile way of working that will allow employees the flexibility to work from the office, home or on the move.
As a key member of the divisional senior management team you will bring proven leadership to the Council’s environmental health, licensing, community safety and community warden and parking services functions. You will be a strong team player with a preference for empowering your teams, yet someone who can also work independently, to achieve the right outcome for the town and its residents.
The successful candidate must have relevant and recent managerial experience in environmental health and / or licensing services with sound knowledge of the relevant legislation and its application at both an operational and strategic level. You will possess the necessary knowledge, skills and competencies to support your teams to undertake investigations, interventions and enforcement across the breadth of services.
You will be Degree educated with the intellectual capacity and ability to quickly grasp new areas of work and make decisions that stand up to scrutiny. Experience of other relevant front line services would be an advantage.
We recommend that you submit your application as soon as possible, as we may end this recruitment before the stated closing date if enough applications are received.
