Licensing & Public Protection Manager – Cheltenham Borough Council Closing Date: 12/07/2024

Contract Type - Permanent

Contract Hours - Full-Time

Salary range - £45,937 to £51,257 (pay award pending wef 1 April 2024)

About the role

We are looking for a highly experienced manager to manage, lead and develop the council’s licensing section and act as lead officer for the council’s public realm CCTV infrastructure and network, event safety through the established Safety Advisory Group (SAG) and to support the Head of Service and, at times, act as lead officer on work and initiatives to ensure a safe and well managed Evening & Night-time Economy (ENTE) including maintaining the town’s Purple Flag status.

As the council’s Licensing & Public Protection Manager, you will:

  • act as lead officer for the authority’s licensing administration, enforcement and policy functions and responsibilities to ensure high standards of service delivery, public protection and safety.
  • act as lead officer for:

- the authority’s public realm CCTV network,

- event safety through the established Safety Advisory Group (SAG); and

- work and initiatives to ensure a safe and well managed Evening & Night-time Economy (ENTE) including maintaining the town’s Purple Flag status.

  • support the development of longer-term corporate strategies, taking a strategic advisory role developing service plans, budget setting and ensuring adequate resources are in place to effectively deliver the range of licensing functions, services and responsibilities.
  • proactively ensure a management approach that supports and fosters integrated teams who provide high quality services across the Public Protection Division.
