Job description

We are looking for an enthusiastic and efficient individual to join our licensing team as a qualified Licensing Officer.

As a key member of the licensing team within Planning and Regulatory services, you will be part of a team delivering an effective and efficient Licensing service.

The West Suffolk Licensing service is essential in protecting the public and helping licensable businesses and other organisations to strengthen their reputation and productivity through good regulatory practice. 

The licensable activities that we deal with include hackney carriage and private hire vehicles, premises and persons in respect of the sale of alcohol, regulated entertainment and late night refreshment, premises under the Gambling Act 2005, animal welfare establishments, street trading and vending, scrap metal, sex establishments and charity collections as well as any future licensing requirements.

The successful candidate will be:

• Flexible in their approach to work, with a ‘can do’ attitude
• Able to resolve problems and challenges
• An excellent administrator, communicator and IT skilled
• Experienced with working on databases
• Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Highly organised, with an attention to detail and accuracy
• A team player

We would welcome applications from an experienced Licensing Officer with a breadth of licensing knowledge, who can work unaided on a wide range of licensing matters, ensuring compliance with our procedures, legislation and best practice. 

If, however, you do not have licensing training and knowledge, we would also welcome the applications of those with less experience with the right attitude, ability and desire to learn to become a Licensing Officer. This would be a career progression opportunity to become a Licensing Officer with a starting salary of £22,462 per annum.
