We are looking for an enthusiastic and efficient individual to join our licensing team.
As a key member of the licensing team within Planning & Regulatory services, you will be part of a team delivering an effective and efficient licensing service.
The West Suffolk licensing service is essential in protecting the public and helping licensable businesses and other organisations to strengthen their reputation and productivity through good regulatory practice. The licensable activities that we deal with include hackney carriage and private hire vehicles, premises and persons in respect of the sale of alcohol, regulated entertainment and late night refreshment, premises under the Gambling Act 2005, animal welfare establishments, street trading and vending, scrap metal, sex establishments and charity collections as well as any future licensing requirements.
As an experienced licensing officer, you will have the breadth of licencing knowledge, work unaided on the wide range of licensing matters, ensuring the councils comply with our procedures, legislation and best practice.
If, however you do not have the relevant licencing training and knowledge, we would also welcome your application. This would be a career pathway position to become a Licensing Officer. While gaining knowledge, experience and completing training you will be expected to plan your own workload and complete tasks/work with the support of your manager.
With or without the licencing knowledge, you will be providing a flexible approach to work with a ‘can do’ attitude to resolving problems and challenges to support the successful delivery of our licensing service. You will possess excellent administration, communication and IT skills, with proven experience of working with databases. The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, be highly organised, with an attention to detail and accuracy are all essential for this role as well as being a team player.
There will also be an expectation of occasional out of hours work as and when required including weekends. This post is based at both at our Bury St Edmunds and Mildenhall offices.
If you have the right attitude with either the knowledge or the ability and desire to learn, then we can offer you a fascinating, challenging, dynamic, supported and always interesting workplace here in West Suffolk. In addition, our benefits package includes a generous pension scheme, flexible working arrangements, learning & development opportunities and discounts on supermarkets and high street shops, cashback on holidays, cycle to work scheme and money off household bills and much more.
If this is a challenge that you are interested in, we would like to hear from you. Previous applicants need not apply.
