This is an exciting time for Stevenage Borough Council, with a comprehensive town centre regeneration scheme underway, which is delivering on the ‘Future Town, Future Council’ strategic vision.

We are looking for a Licensing Officer to join our busy Licensing team. You will be a key player in a multi-disciplinary team delivering the full range of statutory licensing functions across the Borough.  The work will be varied and includes taxis, alcohol and entertainment, gambling, scrap metal, animal activities and street trading; the role will span all licensing functions.  You will be involved with processing applications from receipt to issue, including preparing and presenting reports to sub-committee, interpreting and applying relevant legislation and guidance and undertaking investigations or enforcement as appropriate.

Ideally you will bring with you knowledge and experience of the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005 and some or all of the other licensing functions provided by the service. You will be organised, accurate and flexible with strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative. Experience of Idox Uniform database software is desirable. You may have an appropriate professional qualification or experience in a related field. You will be adaptable and organised with an eye for detail and capable of working under pressure.  You must be willing to carry out duties at flexible times including occasional evenings, weekends and public holidays.
