You will be operating in an area which has a fantastic historic city, coastal town and rural areas of outstanding beauty. The Licensing Team forms part of a highly motivated and ambitious Public Protection service group.

This post provides licensing officer expertise, manages a personal caseload, working with licensing colleagues and supporting the Licensing Manager with smooth and efficient running of the service.
We can also offer the right candidate a fantastic opportunity to join our progressive licensing service and work with our two existing Licensing officers.
You will be a well-experienced local authority Licensing Officer with a strong track record, a positive regulatory mind-set and a can-do attitude. It is essential that applicants have detailed applied knowledge and experience of Local Authority Licensing functions and in particular the Licensing Act 2003, Gambling Act 2005, Hackney Carriages and Private Hire Licensing.

This post is based at Morecambe Town Hall. The hours of work are 37 hours per week over five days between Monday to Friday.
Staff cover is required each working day during office hours, and availability for out-of-hours licensing action and enforcement operations is necessary on a regular basis – including in the early morning, evening and occasionally at weekends or on bank holidays.
The Council currently operates an excellent Flexible Working Hours Scheme which applies to this post. Subject to the needs of this business, this may allow employees to work between the hours of 6:00am-10:30pm.
The post is based at Morecambe Town Hall and travels extensively between council and partner organisation offices. It is a peripatetic post requiring frequent travel and lone working including evidence gathering, challenging unacceptable behaviours and implementing advisory, warning and enforcement action in unfamiliar settings and potentially hostile situations. The ability to drive is essential in this post.
