Licensing Officer - East Lindsey District Council Closing Date: 06/09/2024

We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Officer to join our Licensing Team Based at East Lindsey District Council.

This is a key position in the Licensing Team which plays an important role in protecting the public and ensuring a fair and level playing field for all business. Our team is highly committed to maintaining compliance through advice, inspections and enforcement, and strives to achieve strong relationships with businesses to support growth.

We are looking for someone with previous experience in a similar role accompanied by strong communication skills, can build a rapport with businesses, and is confident to take enforcement action when required.

The role covers a range of licensing disciplines including: taxis; alcohol and entertainment; animal welfare; gambling and street trading.

Key duties will include:

  • Processing and issuing licences after confirming that all checks have been made in accordance with law and policy.
  • Visiting premises throughout the district to carry out compliance and advisory inspections.
  • Giving advice to customers and applicants.
  • Working in partnership with external bodies and partners including Police, Trading standards, the Gambling Commission as well as internal stakeholders including elected Members, environmental health and customer services.
  • Producing Committee reports and presenting information at licensing hearings.
  • Taking enforcement action when required.
  • Ensuring that complaints/enquiries are dealt with efficiently and sensitively, in line with agreed timescales.
  • Occasionally working out of normal office hours, for example to carry out inspections of the taxi trade and night time economy
