Full time with a range of flexibilities, including hybrid working, aligned to our Worksmart arrangements. Part time considered.
Fixed term for up to 13 months
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed person to join our Licensing Team who have responsibility for the licensing and regulation of hackney carriages and private hire vehicles, drivers and operators, street trading and charitable collections in line with the Licensing Act 2003 & Gambling Act 2005.
In this interesting and varied role, you will assess and determine license applications in an efficient and timely manner in accordance with legislation and the council’s policies. You will also provide advice to clients and the community on licensing matters, process applications and monitor and check compliance, as well as conducting investigations into complaints and undertaking enforcement work to regulate licensable activities.
About you
You’ll have excellent written and verbal communication skills, great accuracy and attention to detail, as well as the ability to balance the competing demands of a busy workload. You’ll also have proven enforcement experience and/or experience of local government licensing legislation. You will need to be able to occasionally work outside of normal office hours and hold a valid driving licence to enable effective travel throughout the district and attendance at court (reasonable adjustments may be possible according to the Equality Act).
