Charnwood Borough Council in Leicestershire is a customer-focused, ambitious, and dynamic organisation which is committed to supporting communities, looking after the environment, and creating a thriving economy.
The Licensing team provides a statutory service that helps ensure public safety and the prevention of crime and disorder by helping local businesses/individuals comply with licensing legislation. We take a proactive and supportive approach to working with businesses to help them succeed and prosper, aligning with our corporate priority to create a thriving local economy.
The Council is seeking a Licensing Manager, to manage the small but busy licensing team covering the full range of licensing functions, including alcohol, entertainment, gambling, private hire and hackney carriages, scrap metal dealers, house to house collections, lottery and street collections.
The role will include the day to day management of the Licensing Team, processing licensing applications and decisions, formulating and reviewing policies, supporting the Licensing Committee and Hearings, dealing with driver hearings, coordinating enforcement activities and providing advice and assistance to other partners and services. The role also has line management responsibility for a small team of Regulatory Services Support Officers who provide support to the other teams within the Service area. The role will also be responsible for modernising our licensing business processes and migrating our back-office systems to a new software platform.
The role will require some out of hours and weekend working and applicants must be committed to that level of flexibility. Experience of the administration and enforcement of the Licensing Act or other similar regulatory functions is essential. Previous management experience will also be an advantage.
