Licensing Enforcement Officer (37 hours per week)

Flexible working arrangements such as job share will be considered

 

£24,828 - £27,412 (including 10% enhancement pay for working unsociable hours) plus essential car user allowance

 

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and motivated person, who responds well to working in a pressurised environment, can work to deadlines/targets and who can demonstrate a real commitment to providing excellent customer care and top quality service.

 

You will be a member of a busy team and you will be responsible for the enforcement of licences for various activities including regulated entertainment, the sale of alcohol and all legislation in relation to hackney carriage and private hire vehicles, drivers and operators.

 

You will be expected to carry out inspections and enforcement activities in relation to various activities which are required to be licensed by Hyndburn Borough Council.  You will be required to give advice as and when needed to anyone making licensing enquiries and you will therefore be expected to have a wide and comprehensive knowledge of all aspects of licensing legislation.  You should have previous experience of carrying out investigations and a knowledge of PACE and RIPA.  You will be expected to be proficient in the preparation of prosecution files and reports, and you may be required to attend Court to give evidence.

 

You will have the ability to establish good working relationships with all stakeholders and other bodies such as the police and fire authorities. You will be able to represent the Council at meetings in relation to licensing.

 

You will be a proficient IT user with an excellent command of written English, as well as an experienced communicator with a working background within an organisation responsible for carrying out enforcement activity

 

This role will require you to work regular unsociable hours as part of your normal working week for which there is a 10% enhanced payment.
