Licensing Enforcement Officer - Cherwell District Council Closing Date: 26/08/2024

Salary: Grade F: £31,147.50 - £35,647.00 per annum

Contract: 37 hours per week, permanent

The Job:

Cherwell District Council are committed to being a district of opportunity and promoting safe and healthy communities. Central to these priorities is the work of the Licensing team. An opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic, and committed person to join our busy but friendly Licensing Team.

The successful candidate will be working across the full range of licensing functions including alcohol, taxi and private hire vehicles, late night refreshments, animal, gaming lotteries as well as the licensing of charitable collections and scrap metal dealers.  You will be required to process licence applications, and to take appropriate enforcement action when required. This exciting role will include interviewing people, writing reports, and attending court when required.

The Person:

We are seeking a person who is passionate about delivering an excellent customer experience. You will need to be able to communicate effectively with the public, license applicants, license holders, partner agencies and members of the council in a tactful and confident manner. You will also be able to demonstrate a practical approach to problem solving with good negotiation and mediation skills.

Experience in enforcement is required together with a working knowledge of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act, or a willingness to learn. You will therefore be able to understand and interpret legislation and manage your workload effectively.
