What will you be doing?
On a day-to-day basis you will assist the Licensing Officers in the delivery of advice, support, and enforcement services in relation to the eight licensing functions discharged by the team such as premises licence transfers – Insolvency Register and Companies House checks, and following up accident report forms by inspecting licensed vehicles for public safety.
You will help with licensing applications, answering complaints and proactive enforcement work. This can involve a combination of driver knowledge tests, English language skills tests, and suitability assessments.
This is a varied role where you will be administrating and reporting personal, and sometimes sensitive information, you will also be required to input this data precisely and accurately.
What we need from you
You will have relevant experience of licensing administration backed by evidence of appropriate knowledge of licensing related issues.
You will be able to demonstrate knowledge of licensing legislation particularly as they apply to local authorities, including their practical application through locally agreed policy.
It is essential you have evidence of regulatory service knowledge including problem-solving methodology and relevant practical experience.
You will have well developed interpersonal and communication skills to build relationships and engage successfully with fellow team members, service users, locally elected members, and partner organisations.
Ideally you will be familiar with complex databases and systems and working towards or be part qualified in a related licensing qualification or accreditation.
Please note that due to the nature of this role it is a requirement of employment that an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is obtained for this post.
This is a limited term contract for a period of 12 months.
