Job Introduction

We are recruiting for a solicitor to join our Scottish Licensing team. 

The Scottish Licensing team works from both our Glasgow and Edinburgh offices and sits within TLT’s Leisure & Retail team.  Our client base extends all over Scotland and the team continues to go from strength to strength.  It is now the largest licensing team of any firm in Scotland, representing a number of national and local independent operators in the licensed trade and hospitality sector.

Role Responsibility

As a licensing solicitor you will be responsible for the following: -

• Meeting clients and taking instructions
• Building and managing client relationships
• Supporting business development initiatives to continue to grow the team’s market share
• Preparing and pursuing licence applications –we have significant workloads under the Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005, the Civic Government (Scotland) Act 1982 and the Gambling Act 2005
• Working collaboratively with licensing officials and other third parties on behalf of clients in relation to applications, enforcement issues and licensing policy;
• Providing clients with advice that is strategic and commercial
• Advocacy: appearing at licensing boards and committees across the whole of Scotland on behalf of clients
• Assisting with licensing appeals

• Previous experience in a licensing or regulatory role, from private practice, in-house or local authority backgrounds

• Good IT skills.
• Enthusiastic, energetic and team approach to working.
